About The Project

OneCourt seeks to bring live sports to the low-vision/blind community. By creating a live-updated haptic interface, users can follow sports in real-time without the delays of radio and TV broadcasts.

On this project, I worked alongside founder and CEO Jerred Mace to bring the initial device to reality.

Sprint from Concept to Reality

In my time at OneCourt, I lead a team focused on creating the haptic language and structural functions of the One Court Device. Prototype devices were delivered for initial pilot testing with Major Pro Sports Leagues in the United States in just 3 months.

The main challenge in my time at OneCourt and my main contribution was solving how to convey the emotion of sports through haptic language, and how we could package the delivery of that language in a size and shape that was convenient for a fan’s lap space at a stadium.

Result & Aftermath
Result & Aftermath

By delineating important emotional plays and correlating impact with intensity, we were able to test and create a language that could be felt without the leading commentary that typically accompanies a TV broadcast.

The device itself delivers its language through a lap-sized plastic and silicon haptic interface, allowing the feel of vibrations to be localized to specific parts of the field and easily followed by the users hands.

We achieved our goal of creating a successful pilot device for testing at NFL games for the 2023 season. Today, OneCourt is used in dozens of arenas across all major sports, and has been featured at NBA and MLB All-Star Weekend along with the Super Bowl.
